Poor Quality Control?Purchased from K-Mart. First unit worked fine inlliaity, but then developed a problem. After 2-3 days of leaving the child unit plugged in and on, the sound it would send to the parent unit would start to get loud and a little distorted. The longer it stayed plugged in, the worse it became. Unplugging the child unit would fix this temporarily. This got quite annoying, because it often started to get loud in the middle of the night. Then I would have to go into the kid's room, unplug it, and turn it back on. Exchanged for another one. The second unit was worse, because it would start escalating the volume and distortion after 24 hours. I'll be returning this one.Between the two of these, I had tried out Safety 1st's newer version of this (). That one was just frankly defective (see review of that product. No more Safety 1st monitors for me.Pluses:-fairly compact-visually appealing-battery on the parent unit lasts a long time-Uses AA or AAA (i forgot) rechargeable batteries, so in a pinch you could just put in regular alkaline batteriesCons:-see above re: defective units-the light on the parent unit changes color when the battery is dying, but there is no audible warning. If youforget to plug it in, the unit will die overnight without warning-the other monitor we have (a video one) has a power SWITCH on the camera. If the electricity cuts out, it will turn back on automatically when the power comes back because the switch is in the ON position. This Safety 1st monitor has no switch. You turn the unit on by holding the button in for several seconds. The same way you turn it off. If electricity cuts out, it will not go back on automatically. The parent unit will start beeping to warn you that its not connected, so it's not a safety issue. We have frequent brief losses of electricity (1sec or less), which happened twice overnight while using this monitor. I had to get out of bed, go into the kid's room and turn the child unit back on. Very annoying.-the lights on these things are annoying. The child unit has a bright green light. If the parent unit is not on, the child unit's light blinks. This may bother your kid (my kid was OK with it). The parent unit also has a bright green light, and when plugged in it continuously blinks between orange and green (even after fully charged). I faced it away from me because I could see the blinking through my eyelids. http://vvtrixxbco.com gnnnfgwcs [link=http://jhtqjj.com]jhtqjj[/link]
