My advice and for your safety is to seriously meet people out in person. You will be able to know everything at once in seconds-eye and hair color, weight and height, age and even know their personality from a date once you get to know that person. You can get to know people much easier and better by seeing them face to face rather than online. Online-people can be whoever they want to be and lie about anything and no one would know the truth.
