A Great Product With Just A Few Caveats3M is an American innovation suarestpr. From magnetic recording tape and adhesives in our fathers' generation, to Scotch tape and Post-It Notes. 3M continues to introduce products that make our lives easier. These stretchy, removable Command hooks are one of their more recent innovations. The foam adhesive tape that you apply to various size fashion hooks has an unusual property. If you pull straight down on a small exposed stub, causing the tape to stretch parallel to the surface, it releases cleanly from a wall or surface without leaving any residue. It's almost as if the original adhesion was made with tiny suction cups instead of a physical or chemical adhesive.Who would have thunk it? A gadget that lets your mount almost anything to a smooth, dry surface without drilling, hammering. In fact, no damage or discoloration at all! There is no puncture and no adhesive to clean up. It's almost perfect Well, almost. I give this product high marks (4.5 stars if it were allowed), but with just a few warnings a) The mounts are only invisible when used behind a framed photo or other solid object (and only if it the wire or mounting hole is not too high on the back. For example, if you are hanging something made of lace or with a piano wire that rises above the top edge, these are not as unobtrusive as a tiny angled brad or nail.b) The adhesive is not perfect. I have dropped a valuable painting and damaged the hand made gold leaf frame. Read the weight restrictions carefully and don't use them for items of high value.c) I don't fault 3M for pricing their innovative technology to the market max, but lets face it: At these prices, it is a very Premium solution. With nails and toothed brackets, you could hang a lot more items for the cost of just a few of these clever hooks. I love this product, but in my tool kit, it is a solution for situations where the usual methods would cause undesirable damage or if the surface is too hard for nails (e.g. stone, glass, ceramic).
