When i was in hs i had the same problem with my bofnireyd.  He really wanted to do it on our prom my senior year and i wasn't ready.  You must sit him down, one on one and tell him EXACTLY how you feel, if you are not ready, u must tell him this.  If he's as great as you say he is, he will understand. How he responds is a key part to your relationship.
